THE IDEA

After dinner, the conversation becomes a game.

A backgammon board is set into a travertine table supported by two smoked-oak pedestals. Stone frames the game; ivory and tobacco leather form its triangles. Umbral leaves the board on display as an invitation to sit and extend the conversation.

Project status
A 2026 design concept. Proposed materials and dimensions; technical development and prototyping are pending.
Role
An exploration of form, materiality, proportion and conceptual representation.
Credits
Concept developed for Sada Hess. AI-generated visualizations and sketches; proportion study prepared for this proposal.

01

The game at the center.

Twenty-four points, a central bar and two warm tones organize the board. The stone frame leaves a supporting surface around the game.

02

Timber gains volume.

Two fluted oval bodies support the composition. Positioned to the sides, they leave a central space for approaching the table.

03

Storage without interruption.

A discreet drawer below the edge is proposed for pieces and dice. Hardware, tabletop weight and joints will be defined during technical development.
